Merry Christmas

I made this card for UnstampaBelles Challenge 86. The challenge is to not use stamps first of all and explain the theme in your country or family. Every year my family attends the Candlelight Tour at Tryon Palace so that is my theme. The decorations are from olden days and the characters say, "Happy Christmas" instead of Merry Christmas as you leave each room. The tour is of several rooms in the Palace- https://www.tryonpalace.org/. The paper I used is from Heartfelt Creations Festive Holly Collection and I adhered it to a Recollections A2 size card with Elmer's  Bond Permanent Tape Runner. The sentiment- Merry Christmas is from the same collection and I ran it through my Xyron 1.5 Create A Sticker maker after I cut it out. The washi tape at the top is from Recollections Noel washi tape collection. I chose Clean And Simple since I didn't use stamps. Have a Merry Christmas everyone. You have until December 28th to join the challenge if you would like!

Now on to my project:
I decided to break away from my Christmas cards and make a layout for 2 pictures this Christmas. The background patterned paper and border is from Paper Studio Old World Winter Cardstock 12 x 12 in pad. The title- Christmas Memories, the bottom picture mat, the stocking sticker, red tag, and candy cane sticker are all from Simon Says Stamp. It's the December 2018 Card Kit and is currently out of stock. I wrote on the tag Christmas 2018 to remember the year later. The candy cane photo mat is from The Stamps of Life Hope & Joy 6 x 6 paper pad collection. The string of lights sticker, the journaling square, the Christmas tree sticker, and the gifts stickers are from Simple Stories Oh What Fun 12 x 12 Collection Kit that I bought from Scrapbook.com- see link. I found the Paper Studio paper pad at Hobby Lobby last night and decided to make a layout.  I have a 6 month old nephew that will be in a lot of pictures this Christmas I'm sure.
a close-up pic of the tag, stickers, and paper

I will post an updated post of the layout once the pictures have been added so please be sure to become a follower as mentioned above! That's all I have to share today.

Not Your Ordinary Card Kit

I made the following three cards using Club Scrap Not Your Ordinary Card kit. The only extra items I had to use were my paper trimmer, Scor-Pal, bone folder, iCraft tape, stapler, and scissors. All the paper was provided and the designs were on 2 8.5x 11 sheets that I had to cut apart. I had to look on Club Scrap's website for the instructions on how to put the cards together. The kit makes 4 of each card. I just made one of each this afternoon.

 Front of pop-up card
Inside of card with pop-up design
 Front of Match Book card
Inside, I may cover the staple with a sticker
Front of Gatefold Card. The mint green strip is supposed to be sandwiched between the orange paper and the canoe piece on both sides, but I want the card to open without any problems.
Inside of Gatefold card.
This is a fun kit! I may not get back to it until after Christmas or at least until my Christmas cards are finished. I just received this kit this past Saturday and didn't get to play with it until this afternoon. I had 2 Thanksgiving dinners this past weekend- one with my dad's side of the family on Saturday- I had deep fried turkey for the first time and then Thanksgiving with my sister, brother-in-law, my mom, and stepdad. My nephew wanted to eat with us, but he only has 2 teeth and not eating food yet. He'll be 6 months tomorrow! He's squirming more when he's being held so he may be crawling soon! I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving!

Merry Christmas

I used the above sketch from Tuesday Morning Sketches to make the following card.
The card base is Recollections A2 Card and Envelope pack. The patterned paper is from Recollections Fireside 6 x 6 in paper pad. The red and green diamonds are from my stash. All of the stamped images are from Sweet 'N Sassy Stamps Diane Noble Designs Home for the Holidays Clear stamp set. I used Gina K Designs Amalgam Ink on all of them except the Christmas tree. I used Stampin' Up Old Olive Water-based dye ink. All of the stamps were stamped onto Stampin' Up Whisper White 8.5 x 11 cardstock. I bought the Old Olive ink from Cayla, who I linked Stampin' Up to. I just recently bought this Sweet 'N Sassy stamp set and will be buying more from them. I love both Stampin' Up and Sweet 'N Sassy. I colored in the Christmas tree and gift images with Marvy Uchida ColorIn Watercolor Twist Pencils. I adhered the paper down with iCraft crafting tape- kinda like scor-tape and the stamped images and star- which is fussy cut out of the same Fireside patterned paper- with my Xyron 1.5 in Create a Sticker maker. I used my Tim Holtz platform to stamp all my images. I love it! If you don't have one, I highly recommend it! I won't create without it! I will be working on more Christmas cards and tags soon, so please be sure to come back to see what I'm working on. Have a great Tuesday!

I decided to make a layout of my visit to my friend's farm in FL for this blog hop. The patterned paper is Recollections Barn Wood 12 x 12 in Open Stock paper from Michaels. I decided to fussy cut the title- Busy Barnyard Sounds All Around and the tractor at the bottom left of the layout from a piece of patterned paper from my stash. I believe I bought it from Hobby Lobby, but I can't remember the manufacturer off the top of my head. The photo mats were made using Ranger Dylusions Spray Ink and Stencil technique set. I didn't plan on covering them entirely, but don't use them much in my scrappin. The ribbon at the bottom is from a recent crafty mug exchange that I participated in with a group of ladies on Facebook- similar to a secret sister swap. I adhered everything, but the journaling and the ribbon down with iCraft Easy Tear Tape- a variation of scor-tape/double sided tape. The ribbon has adhesive on it that you pull off the back like the iCraft tape. I used my Xyron 1.5" Create A Sticker to adhere the journaling that I typed on the computer- One of eight horses and part of the 40 goats that are on the farm where my friends, Doug and Laura, live in Okeechobee, FL. I went to visit them in July 2018. That's all I have to share today.

Be sure to head over to my friend, Shannon https://shannonhdesigns.blogspot.com/ where I'm sure she has an awesome project to share!

Here's our line up in case you get lost along the way.

Surf's Up

I made this layout using a challenge from Soul Scrappers SSQ37 Music to my Ears.  I was sent a business size envelope full of 8 items and I used 7- the piano keys at the top, the music note brad, blue ribbon, the piece of burlap, treble clef die, the notes stamped image, and the French horn stamped image. The background paper, title tag sticker- Surf's Up, and the sticker- Be Grateful for good friends, hot sun, and clear water- on the left side of the journaling is all from Authentique Utopia collection. The journaling paper is from My Mind's Eye Tell Your Story journaling sheets. I wrote with a black Pentel ink pen that Doug, Laura, Riley, Sister (Riley and Sister are their greyhound dogs) and I went to a dog park- beach at Walton Rocks Dog Beach in Jensen Beach, FL. Hearing the wind at the beach is music to my ears. 7-15-18 I took the picture of the palm trees while sitting in the drive-thru at McDonald's and the selfie on the beach. The water is so clear there, but there's a lot of seaweed on the edge of the water.  We went that Sunday afternoon after church and stopped at Dairy Queen on the way back home. The challenge requirements was to use most of the items in the envelope and to include the words "music to my ears" somewhere on our project.

Just Breathe

I made the following card using the sketch above from CAS(E) this Sketch! blog.
I decided to flip the sketch horizontally so my sentiment would fit better. The card base is Recollections 4 x 5.25. I added Close To My Heart Sugar Rush Collection 12 x 12 paper trimmed to fit the card and the piece behind the sentiment is also from the same collection. The coffee cup stamped image and sentiment stamped image are both from Unity Stamp Company Graciellie Design Stay Strong stamp set. I stamped them with Gina K Designs Amalgam Jet Black ink using my Tim Holtz Platform and then colored the coffee cup image in with Le Plume II Color In Water-based dye ink markers and accented both the coffee image and sentiment with INC. StarLightz  Glitter gel pen. The washi tape across the top is Scotch Expressions. I distressed the edges of the card except the top where the washi tape is with Tim Holtz Scattered Straw Ink- part of the mini set. I decided to make a card before the hurricane hits. TFL!

Generations of Love Blog Hop

This is a blog hop featuring projects inspired by our family tree and our Grandparents in honor of National Grandparents Day.
National Grandparents Day is Sunday, September 9th.
This is a weekend hop, but you have until Monday at midnight to finish hopping.
Lorby's World is the blog to start at and she is offering a special prize to one lucky person. All you have to do is hop through all the participants in the blog hop and leave a comment on each of the their blogs. Lorby's World will pick a winner to be announced on Wednesday, September 12th.
Welcome! You should have come from (Shannon https://shannonhdesigns.blogspot.com/).
Here is my project:
I chose a picture from my grandparents' 25th Wedding Anniversary to scrap. All of my grandparents' have passed, but I have many memories of them to hold on to. I know I will see them again one day in heaven. The main patterned paper, photo mat, and title- Cherish are all from Colorbok Signature Paper Family 12 x 12 in Double Sided Paper Pad. I wanted to add a little embellishment, but not too much so I added the word love- Hampton Art Jillibean Soup Wood Veneer Words Today set. I typed my journaling out on my computer- Four generations of love. This picture was taken at Papa and Grandmama James' 25th Wedding Anniversary- August 20,1978. From left to right is me in my dad's arms, my Great Grandmama and Great Granddaddy Futrell- my grandmama's parents, my mom holding Emily- my sister, and my Grandmama James. I was just 2 and Emily was 7 weeks old.
My Papa died in 2004 and my Grandmama remarried in 2012 to Mr. Raffael Farrow. They had 5 years of marriage together before she died this past April. My great-grandparents passed a week apart in 1993. My parents divorced in 1999 and my mom remarried in 2001 to Mr. Ray Bowles. That's all I have to share today. Your next stop is Sue and I'm sure she has something awesome to share!
Thank you for joining us today and please continue on to (Sue https://foleysfriend.blogspot.com/).

Wishing You a Magical Christmas

I followed the above sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch to make this card.
The card base is Recollections 4.25 x 5 in card pack. I then added patterned paper for the background and the diagonal stripe from Pebbles Home For Christmas 12 x 12 Scrapbook Paper Collfection. The elf stamp and the sentiment is from The Stamps of Life elves2 stamp set. I stamped both with VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink using my Tim Holtz Platform. I colored in the elf with NPW 50/50 Double-ended Two Tone Pencils. I decided not to add a lot to this card since the background paper is so busy. I thought it would fit well with the elf stamp. I may send this for a swap or I may send it with my own Christmas cards I'll decide this later. The sketch expires tomorrow so you still have time to join but only about 11 hours from now. Have a great night!

Happy Birthday

I made this card for my stepdad's birthday which was yesterday. The card base is Recollections 4.25 x 5. The red background is a 4 x 6 photo mat from Creative Memories Hockey set that I trimmed down to fit the card. The pocket stamp, V line stamp, and the fake money is all from Stampin' Up Pocketful of Sunshine Photopolymer Stamp set. The brads are from a friend in my church that gives me scrap supplies randomly. The yellow paper I used for the pocket stamp is also from Creative Memories. What you can't see behind the pocket is a small paper bag from Recollections that I trimmed down to fit behind the pocket so I wouldn't have to use more brads. The green paper for the fake money is also from Creative Memories. I used VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink to stamp all the stamps using my Tim Holtz Platform. He liked the card and thought the fake $5 was real for a second! LOL I wrote in the 5. He loves watching football and Washington Redskins so I was trying to stick close to their colors. The happy birthday stamp is from The Stamps of Life butterfly2stamp set. I know the pocket doesn't really fit with the Redskins theme, but I have been wanting to use the pocket stamp set.
This is the inside of the card I made on Sketch #277 Happy Birthday. I decided to add the You are One Cool Chick stamp- from The Stamps of Life farmanimals2stamp and the dies are also from the same set. The card was for my friend, Laura, who works with horses and lives on a farm/ranch. I call it a ranch, because they don't have pigs or chickens. Her anniversary and birthday is the same weekend so I decided to add the horse stamp- also from the same Stamps of Life set- and then used the die to cut it out using my Cuttlebug. I used Making Memories Kraft paper for the farm animals and Recollections Strawberries & Cream for the pig. I think I put the chicken die down wrong, but it can be used with either side up. I used VersaFine Onyx Black pigment ink on these stamps and my Tim Holtz platform as well. Laura and my stepdad's birthdays are both on September 3. I mailed hers last week and hope she has received it by now. I will be participating in a Generations of Love blog hop this Saturday so please be sure to come back and see what we all have to share. Have a great day!
